The FBI is looking for a man they dubbed the “Hefty Heister” who has held up eight banks, including one in Elk Grove earlier this week.
The heavily built stickup man is considered armed and dangerous. He aimed a black semi-automatic pistol at a teller in a Brentwood, Contra Costa County, bank on Dec. 21.
The man has hit banks in seven Northern California cities since Dec. 3. He held up the Bank of Rio Vista in Walnut Grove on Dec. 31 and the US Bank inside the Safeway supermarket Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday, the robber held up the Tri Counties bank inside the Raley’s supermarket, 4900 Elk Grove Boulevard. He typically presents the teller with a note demanding money and threatens that he has a weapon.
