Crash kills young mother in south Sacramento; badly injures daughter
A woman died and her 5-year-old daughter suffered major injuries Wednesday night when her car rear-ended another vehicle on Highway 99 in south Sacramento.
The 22-year-old woman was northbound on Highway 99 just north of the Fifth Avenue over-crossing in a slow lane at a high rate of speed at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when her car collided with the rear of another vehicle traveling at 55 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was not wearing a seat belt and her daughter was not in a child’s passenger seat, according to a CHP press release. The little girl was wearing a seat belt.
An investigation into the crash was being conducted.
