Three Stockton-area men feared to be missing in Big Sur have turned up unscathed, according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Department.

"They have walked out a few minutes ago," Sgt. Mike Burns said early on Sunday afternoon. "No injuries, no distress, and the families have been notified."

It appears the three men, who raised alarms with law enforcement after they didn't turn up when expected on Saturday night and their car was found, had gone to a second vehicle, Burns said.

The Stockton Police Department had identified the missing men as Tyler Betteridge, 20, David Betteridge, 23, and Robert Garcia, 22.

The trio departed for a hike early Saturday from Stockton but failed to return that night, as they planned. Their car was found in the Big Sur area, said Stockton Police Department spokesman Joe Silva.
