Sacramento police warn of suspicious person posing as alarm salesman

The Sacramento Police Department issued an alert Thursday for residents in the Franklin Boulevard/Mack Road area regarding a suspicious person posing as an alarm salesman.

Police were notified that a man, described as white and 30 to 40 years old, was asking suspicious questions about a resident’s home, whether it was equipped with an alarm and whether people were home during certain hours of the day. The man reportedly refused to identify himself or leave any contact information when the resident requested it.

Police advised residents to secure their homes and vehicles, and to be alert to any suspicious activity. Anyone who observes such activity in their neighborhood is advised to call 911, or from a cellphone, the Police Department’s emergency phone number, (916) 732-0100. Callers should be prepared to provide a detailed description of the people or vehicles involved and the nature of the incident.
