Authorities are searching for a man in a physical assault that occurred early Friday morning in Rocklin.
The man is of unknown race and 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark pants and a black-and-gray hooded sweatshirt.
Rocklin Police Department responded to a call at 6:58 a.m. from a woman who said she was assaulted from behind while carrying items to her car from her apartment on the 100 block of Beachcomber Drive East. She was not injured.
The woman said she kicked and yelled, causing the assailant to flee. He was not found during an initial search of the area.

Police are unsure of a motive but believe the man was trying to steal “valuable property” from the victim. They do not believe that the assault was sexual in nature.
