A Cosumnes River College student was arrested early Monday on suspicion of making criminal threats via social media.

Kristie West, college spokeswoman, said Christopher Salazar, 19, allegedly sent a Snapchat message to friends threatening to take a weapon into a classroom. A friend called police, and officers with the Los Rios Police Department went to Salazar’s home. West said no weapons were found at the home.

Salazar was arrested and booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of making threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury, according to booking information available online. He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

West said Salazar is enrolled in the fire technology program and has been a student at Cosumnes River College since fall 2015.
