Redding police reported Saturday that a non-injury vehicle rollover erupted into a chase and fight inside a dental office waiting room that ended with the driver’s arrest.

The incident began near Hilltop Drive and Dana Drive in Redding when police received a report of a car rollover. The driver of the car, who was identified as Anthony Ray Trujillo, 53, of Redding, ran from the scene and later was spotted by an officer near a Food Maxx parking lot on Churn Road, police said.

“Trujillo refused the officer’s command to show his hands, which he was purposely keeping concealed in his coat jacket pockets,” a Redding police news release said. “He demanded that the officer shoot him and disregarded commands to stop.”

The officer declined Trujillo’s request, and the suspect resisted efforts to arrest him, police said. He eventually fled to the front of a Western Dental office, where police say he tried to punch and officer in the face, then fled into the waiting room where “a physical altercation ensued.”

Trujillo was arrested and checked for injuries at a local hospital, then booked on charges of assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and other offenses. Police say Trujillo is on active felony probation for robbery and recently had been arrested for a probation violation and resisting arrest.
