Citrus Heights detectives investigating the death of a woman early Monday were trying to determine whether the fatal wound was self-inflicted.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 12800 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard near Sunrise Boulevard shortly after 12:05 a.m. Monday. The caller said a woman had been shot but did not include much more than that, police said.
Officers found the woman dead of a gunshot wound.
“We have not ruled it a homicide or a suicide,” Lt. Dave Gutierrez said. “We are in the preliminary stages of the investigation. What we do know is that it was an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public.”
