A 21-year-old man has been convicted of second-degree murder in a January 2014 shooting death at an Arden-area apartment complex.
A Sacramento County jury returned the verdict Monday against Montrell Woods. Woods was convicted also of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a district attorney’s news release.
On Jan. 22, 2014, 31-year-old Kenny Hernandez was helping family members move into an apartment on Ethan Way when he bumped into Woods. The two got into an argument, and Woods pulled out a .38-caliber handgun and shot Hernandez in the chest. Hernandez died en route to a hospital.
Woods is to be sentenced April 8 by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Allen Sumner.
