Elk Grove police are investigating an armed holdup at a Walmart store early Tuesday morning in which the robber made off with money from a cash room.

The robbery occurred at the 24-hour store on Elk Grove Boulevard at Highway 99 around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday.

He entered the business through the front door and made his way to the store cash room, according to Officer Chris Trim, an Elk Grove police spokesman. The robber then entered the room and at gunpoint demanded money from an employee, Trim said.

The employee gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber was last seen walking away from the store, Trim said.
