Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in Sacramento County on Thursday for allegedly breaking through a wall between businesses while committing a burglary.

Deputies responded about 3 a.m. Thursday to a burglar alarm activation at a business in the 6000 block of Franklin Boulevard. Deputies who first responded could see a man taking money from a cash register of a restaurant.

When more deputies arrived, the burglar fled on foot. He was found hiding under a car parked at a nearby apartment complex.

Robert Demetrio Chavez, 47, of Sacramento was booked into the Sacramento County jail on suspicion of burglary. Deputies recovered cash and stolen property.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the burglar had broken into a mini-mart and then created a hole in a common wall to enter the adjacent restaurant.
