Driver, 87, dies of injuries suffered in Roseville collision

An 87-year-old man has died of injuries suffered in a collision that closed a portion of Roseville’s Washington Boulevard for several hours Wednesday.

Roseville police and firefighters responded at 3:07 p.m. to the crash on Washington Boulevard at All American City Boulevard. Police said Russell Joseph Chabrier, 87, of Roseville was driving his 2010 Ford Escape north on Washington Boulevard and turned left to go onto All American City Boulevard.

As he made the turn, he crossed into the path of a southbound 2000 Ford pickup driven by a 36-year-old Sacramento man, and the two vehicles collided, according to a Police Department news release.

Chabrier was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The driver of the truck and his passenger suffered minor injuries and said they would seek treatment on their own, according to police.

Washington Boulevard was closed for about six hours while the Police Department’s accident investigation team examined the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
