Authorities suspect an inmate at California State Prison, Sacramento, in Folsom was killed by his cellmate.

Correctional officers found a 53-year-old inmate unresponsive in his cell at 8:20 p.m. Monday, according to prison authorities. He was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.

The inmate, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for a first-degree murder conviction in Marin County. He had been in prison since 1983.

Authorities identified the man’s cellmate, Rambo M. Martin, as a suspect. Martin, 26, is serving an eight-year sentence from San Bernardino County for assault with a firearm. He also is serving a four-year sentence from Kern County for assault by a prisoner with a deadly weapon.
