A 53-year-old man is in custody, accused of setting fire to his Sacramento residence early Tuesday.
Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey said fire crews responded to a structure fire in the 3500 block of 58th Street in the Tahoe Park area about 1 a.m. When they arrived, the resident, Brian Anderson, was standing outside on the sidewalk. Harvey said he was behaving erratically, and while paramedics checked to be sure that Anderson was not injured, fire investigators quickly determined the fire had been deliberately set. Harvey said pieces of furniture had been set on fire.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, preventing major structural damage, he said.
Harvey said it had not been determined whether Anderson was the owner of the home or a renter.
