Body of Roseville man recovered in river near Discovery Park

The body recovered from the confluence of rivers near Discovery Park on Tuesday has been identified as that of a Roseville man.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s website lists the deceased as 59-year-old Edward L. Bartholomew.

The Sacramento Fire Department responded about 4:45 p.m. after 911 callers reported what appeared to be a body in the water. Fire spokesman Chris Harvey said a department boat crew found the body.

Harvey noted that a man, deemed to be at-risk, was reported missing in the Discovery Park area Feb. 5. The missing man was from Roseville and his sport-utility vehicle was found in a parking lot at Discovery Park after police dispatchers traced his cellphone.

The Sacramento Fire Department launched a search at that time, using an underwater camera along the shoreline near the boat landing where the man’s Jeep Grand Cherokee was parked.
