Crime-fighting camera leads to another Sacramento arrest
Sacramento police continue to make arrests using cameras that capture the license-plate numbers of passing vehicles.
Officers were patrolling near the 1300 block of Florin Road in South Sacramento about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday when they were notified by a Police Observation Device (POD) that a stolen vehicle was nearby.
Officers found the vehicle and arrested the driver, 39-year-old Ometra Jones.
PODs, which can alert officers to crime while they are occurring, were introduced in Sacramento in 2014.
The devices are equipped to read license plates. They display the police shield logo and a flashing blue light.
