Police nab man in midtown Sacramento ‘bait bike’ arrest

Police officers arrested a man suspected of stealing a police bait bike early Saturday in midtown Sacramento.

Randy Malone, 48, was arrested on suspicion of theft and other allegations at about 3:33 a.m. after police responded to the 2300 block of J Street after a bait bike had been activated, Sacramento Police Department officials said.

Patrol officers arrived to find Malone riding the bicycle. Officers said that Malone ran when they tried to contact him and that they took him into custody following a brief chase.

Malone also was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession, possessing burglary tools and outstanding warrants, according to Sacramento police.
