Roseville police seek suspect, vehicle after family escapes carjacking

Roseville police are looking for a man who reportedly carjacked a family, then drove off in their vehicle after they escaped.

About 4:30 p.m., police received a call from a resident about a suspicious person in the greenbelt of a residential area near Sunrise Avenue and Douglas Boulevard, said police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther. When police arrived, the individual ran from officers.

A short time later, police received a report that a family had been carjacked in the 1900 block of Sunrise Avenue when a man jumped into their 2012 black Volkswagen Jetta. Gunther said the couple and their child were able to get out of the vehicle within a few minutes. They were shaken up, but safe, she said.

Police were looking for the carjacker and the vehicle Monday evening. Gunther said the man was described as white, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with a thin build, tattoos on his arms and a shaved head. He wore blue jeans and a shirt of unknown color.

The Jetta is a four-door sedan with California license plate number 6VOU192.

Anyone with information regarding the location of the man or the vehicle is asked to call Roseville Police at (916) 774-5100.
