Man shot, wounded in Del Paso Heights

A man was shot Monday afternoon in Del Paso Heights and then got into a car that crashed a few blocks away, Sacramento police said.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Branch Street, south of Grand Avenue, according to police spokesman Sgt. Justin Brown. The victim got into a vehicle, which crashed at North Avenue and High Street.

Brown could not say whether the man was the driver or a passenger. Emergency personnel took the victim to a hospital.

Officers responded to calls and an alert from ShotSpotter, a microphone-based technology that detects gunfire, Brown said.
