A shootout in broad daylight on a Del Paso Heights street has led to the death of a 35-year-old man, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Calvin Goldsmith but did not list a city of residence.
Police said they were alerted to gunfire near Branch Street about 12:30 p.m. Monday by a ShotSpotter device.
Officers discovered that a vehicle had crashed into a fence several blocks from where the ShotSpotter indicated the gunshots had been fired. Officers found Goldsmith in the driver’s seat, unresponsive and with more than one gunshot wound.
