A camera designed to read car license plates led to the arrest Tuesday of a woman for vehicle theft, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Sacramento police officers were patrolling in the area of Grand Avenue and Marysville Boulevard in Del Paso Heights about 12:40 p.m. Tuesday when a Police Observation Device, or POD, alerted them that a stolen vehicle was being driven close by.
The officers spotted the vehicle and arrested driver Christina Srisavaththay, 32, She was booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, drug possession and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana.
POD cameras, mounted at intersections, display the police shield logo and a flashing blue light.
