Coroner confirms identity of woman killed in North Highlands home
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that Erin Hanks was the young woman who was shot and killed Tuesday in her North Highlands home.
Deputies continue to search for the person who killed the mother of two young children. Hanks, 23, was found at about 12:40 a.m. in the front room of her home in the 3800 block of Galbrath Drive.
She suffered a gunshot wound to her upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two children, ages 1 and 5, were in the home at the time of her killing. They were not injured.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Turnbull said investigators believe the shooter fired from outside the home, striking Hanks.
Authorities did not know whether the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle. No description of the shooter or motive for the shooting has been released by the Sheriff’s Department.
