A pedestrian suffered serious injury when she was struck and then trapped under a commuter bus Thursday morning in downtown Sacramento.

The woman was hit by an El Dorado Transit bus about 7:15 a.m. at Fifth and N streets. Details about the incident are still being investigated.

Sacramento police spokeswoman Traci Trapani said that when officers arrived on the scene, the woman was under the bus. Sacramento Fire Department firefighters responded and removed her to an ambulance.

She was taken to a hospital, where she was reported to be in serious condition, Trapani said.
