A driver was carjacked in Tahoe Park Monday night as he sat in his vehicle.
Sacramento police said that the male driver was in his vehicle near the neighborhood’s park in the 3500 block of 59th Street about 11:30 p.m. Monday when he was approached by two people, one of them armed with a handgun.
The driver was forced from his vehicle and the auto thieves fled in his vehicle. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in south Sacramento later spotted the stolen vehicle and engaged in a short pursuit.
The driver lost control and crashed before fleeing on foot. Police officers and deputies searched the area, eventually detaining a 17-year-old boy. He was arrested by deputies on suspicion of fleeing officers and possession of stolen property.
