Two men killed last week in a wrong-way driver crash on Interstate 5 north of Woodland have been identified by the Yolo County sheriff-coroner.
The California Highway Patrol reported that about 11:30 p.m. on March 1 a car was northbound at an unknown speed in the southbound fast lane on I-5 about 11 miles north of Woodland, near the town of Zamora.
At the same time, a pickup was southbound speeding at about 90 mph, according to the CHP. The vehicles collided head-on.
The pickup ended up on the right shoulder of the freeway and caught fire. The driver was identified as Joseph Brendle, 30, of Hollister, San Benito County.

The car, driven by Jose Luis Morales Montiel, 29, of El Nido, Merced County, ended up in the center divider.
