Coroner identifies recycling center employee shot last week

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has released the name of a recycling employee who was shot to death on the job last week in the Noralto neighborhood of Sacramento.

He was identified as Ramon Lopez Rodriguez, 31, of Vacaville.

Rodriguez was shot at a recycling center in the 2800 block of Norwood Avenue. Police rushed to the scene of the shooting about 11 a.m. Friday to find him suffering from a gunshot wound.

Rodriguez was transported to a hospital where he later was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to assist patrol officers. They determined that three young males tried to rob the business.

One fired a gun, fatally wounding Rodriguez. The three young robbers then fled.

No arrests have been made in the killing.
