A Lincoln woman died Sunday morning after losing control of her vehicle on Interstate 80 in Sacramento’s Natomas area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Bhumisha Patel, 36, was driving a 2011 Ford Focus west on I-80, east of Truxel Road, at about 6 a.m. when she lost control of her car, which came to rest facing north in the express lane. A Toyota 4Runner heading west struck the passenger side of Patel’s car, according to a CHP news release.
Patel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP determined that the driver of the Toyota – Brandon Rein, 35, of Fair Oaks – was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. Both Patel and Rein were wearing their seat belts, the CHP reported.
