One person is in custody after leading Rancho Cordova police on a slow-speed chase on westbound Highway 50 in commute-hour traffic Tuesday.
Sgt. Tony Turnbull, police spokesman, said the chase began about 5:40 p.m. when officers spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of Coloma Road in Rancho Cordova.
The driver fled from officers and the vehicle entered westbound Highway 50. Turnbull said speeds during the pursuit appeared not to have exceeded 45 mph.
The vehicle exited Highway 50 at 65th Street, and the pursuit continued on surface streets. The vehicle was brought to a stop in the area of Broadway and 49th Street, near the Department of Motor Vehicles office, Turnbull said.
