The Valley Hi-North Laguna library, closed after a weekend intrusion, is scheduled to reopen at 1 p.m. Friday.

Intruders entered through a window to get into the library on Sunday, and there did not appear to be forced entry, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Two doors and an interior security gate were damaged. Vending machines were tipped over and electronic items may be missing, police said.

Library furniture, computers and books sustained little or no damage, according to a Sacramento Public Library notice. Repairs are being made before the library reopens.

The facility’s book drop near Bruceville Road remains open. Patrons may hold onto items until the library reopens or return them to another branch.

Fines incurred during closure will be waived.

Editor’s note (March 17): This post was updated after Sacramento Public Library announced its reopening time.
