Two men have been arrested in the death of a North Sacramento woman who was found in her bedroom with a gunshot wound in June.
Richard Gutierrez, 22, and Laurencio Quintero, 39, are accused of fatally shooting 50-year-old Stacy Norman. Officers responded about 5:01 a.m. June 13 to an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Rio Linda Boulevard regarding reports of gunfire in the area. When they arrived, they found Norman in her bedroom with gunshot wounds to the stomach.
Detectives later determined that Norman was not the intended target of the shooting and was struck by gunfire while in her apartment. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but police said it appears to have stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two groups unrelated to Norman.
During the investigation, detectives identified Gutierrez and Quintero as primary suspects in the case, according to a Police Department news release. Both men were arrested July 9 for unrelated assault and weapons charges and remained in custody.
