Sacramento police have released a blurry security camera photo of the car they believe was used in an attempted kidnapping Wednesday morning of a 13-year-old girl in East Sacramento.
The car is described as a dark gray, four-door Volkswagen Jetta with tinted rear windows.
The teenager, who was not identified, was walking near 45th and M streets on her way to Kit Carson Middle School around 7:21 a.m. Wednesday when a man exited the Jetta and tried to coerce her into the car.
The man displayed a gun as he demanded she get into the vehicle, police said.

The girl resisted and yelled for help, attracting the attention of a passer-by. The vehicle fled the scene. There were at least two people in the car, including the driver.
One man in the car is described as a mixed race man of light complexion, in his 20s, with acne scars on his face and a faint mustache. He is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark gray beanie and a burgundy hooded sweatshirt.
There was no description of the driver of the sedan. The girl was not injured.
Officers found a camera in the neighborhood that captured an image of the car used by the men in the attempted kidnapping.
Police spokeswoman Officer Traci Trapani said that the department has received numerous tips.
“Unfortunately, we are going to need more tips for a substantial lead to a suspect,” said Trapani.
