Scanning camera finds stolen car in Sacramento; driver quickly arrested
A crime-fighting device alerted police to the presence of a stolen vehicle in south Sacramento on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of the driver.
Officers patrolling near Valley Hi Drive and Bamford Drive were alerted by a Police Observation Device that a stolen vehicle was being driven nearby. The POD devices are mounted at intersections and are equipped to read license plates. They display the police shield logo and a flashing blue light.
Officers quickly found the vehicle and arrested the driver, Nicole Ostril, 27, on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, according to a posting on the Police Department’s Facebook page.
