A crime-fighting device alerted police to the presence of a stolen vehicle in south Sacramento on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of the driver.

Officers patrolling near Valley Hi Drive and Bamford Drive were alerted by a Police Observation Device that a stolen vehicle was being driven nearby. The POD devices are mounted at intersections and are equipped to read license plates. They display the police shield logo and a flashing blue light.
