Two people were detained after a California Highway Patrol officer was reportedly fired upon Friday morning in Auburn.
The CHP officer reported he was shot at on Interstate 80 at the Nevada Street off-ramp. The officer was not hit.
CHP spokesman Officer David Martinez said that the officer was on a traffic stop on westbound I-80 at Nevada Street when he heard what he believed were shots fired in his direction as a white cargo truck drove past.
The officer transmitted an emergency call that shots were fired. A vehicle description was dispatched to law enforcement units and a cargo truck fitting the description was stopped around 10:30 a.m. near I-80 and Sierra College Boulevard.

Officers questioned the driver and a passenger, eventually detaining both.
An investigation into the incident continued Friday afternoon. Officers planned to impound and search the vehicle.
