Inderjit S. Toor Construction Inc. has offered to help Priscilla Pruitt pick up the pieces after her house burned down on Wednesday, killing her two small dogs.

Harinder Toor, who works at the company with his brother Inderjit Toor, said the construction company reached out to Pruitt after hearing about her story on the news. They will set her up in short-term housing and intend to rebuild her house in the next six months, Toor said.

Pruitt’s house on Potomac Avenue in the Northgate area of Sacramento went up in flames while she was out for an early birthday lunch with two of her friends. She lost the house she owned for 45 years and her two small Lhasa Apsos, Max and Patches.

It occurred five days before she turns 70 on Monday.

Inderjit S. Toor Construction Inc. is primarily a luxury home construction company that builds “comfortable and practical” homes in and around Modesto.

To Toor’s knowledge, Pruitt’s insurance would not cover her housing or the contents and rebuilding of her house, so the company will do it free of charge. They hope to find her short-term housing as close to her original home as possible while they do the construction.

“We want to give her a parachute to help her out,” Toor said.
