Man dies in suspected Sacramento hit-and-run hours after another fatal collision
The second of two men fatally injured in weekend hit-and-run accidents in Sacramento was identified Monday by the county Coroner’s Office as Rory Clark, 60, of Sacramento.
Clark died about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of Northgate Boulevard near Interstate 80. Sacramento police spokesman Officer Matthew McPhail said Clark was seen walking north on the east side of the street with a cane. He later was found in the road and pronounced dead.
Police ask anyone with information to call the department’s hit-and-run tip line at 916-808-3060.
“Hopefully, somebody saw something,” McPhail said. “No detail is too small or unimportant.”
About three hours before the Northgate Boulevard hit-and-run, California Highway Patrol officers responded at 10:07 p.m. Saturday to a report of a hit-and-run on 47th Avenue near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in south Sacramento and found a pedestrian down, according to a CHP news release. Sacramento fire personnel pronounced Washington Thrower, 68, of Sacramento, dead.
A witness reported seeing a silver or gray Lexus heading east on 47th Avenue after the collision, according to CHP officials, who ask that anyone with information contact the agency at 916-861-1300 or 916-681-2300. People can also submit tips anonymously via the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.
