A man was injured in a shooting at a West Sacramento motel early Monday morning.

The 25-year-old man from Vallejo was reported in fair condition at the hospital where he was taken after the 1:45 a.m. shooting at the Motel 6 near Harbor Boulevard and Highway 50, according to police.

Sgt. Roger Kinney of the West Sacramento Police Department said that officers and paramedics were called to the motel by private security who stated that the injured man was in the motel parking lot and needed help.

Officers said the man and a female roommate were staying at the motel. The roommate left prior to arrival of police.

“We do not know if the roommate is a suspect or a witness,” said Kinney. “She is certainly someone we would like to talk to.”

The weapon used in the shooting has not been recovered. It is believed the man was shot in or near his room and walked across the parking lot to where he was met by motel security officers.
