Two people were reported injured in a two-vehicle collision in Elk Grove, with one vehicle landing in a ravine.
Elk Grove police spokesman Officer Christopher Trim said the collision occurred about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elk Grove-Florin Road and Valley Oak Lane. One vehicle was eastbound on Valley Oak Lane, preparing to turn onto Elk Grove-Florin Road and the other vehicle was southbound on Elk Grove-Florin.
The collision pushed one vehicle into a ravine on the east side of Elk Grove Florin. He said the vehicle came to rest on its wheels. Although there was water in the ravine, Trim said it came only about halfway up the tires.
Trim said the drivers were the only occupants in each vehicle, and both were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. The driver of the vehicle that landed in the ravine had to be extricated by Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department crews.
