Bizarre death on Fulton Avenue as man steers car into parked vehicles
A man died after his body hit parked cars as he tried to wrest control of a vehicle from a driver at an apartment complex in Arden Arcade.
The bizarre death occurred about 3 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of Fulton Avenue. The Sacramento County sheriff’s communications department had received calls that the man was hitting cars with a fire extinguisher.
The driver of a 2013 Toyota Camry, attempting to enter the complex, opened the driver’s-side window of his vehicle to use a key pad. As he did so, the pedestrian attacked the driver through the window. The driver accelerated in an attempt to get away, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The attacker got his upper body inside and took control of the steering wheel.
In the struggle, the vehicle struck a parked car in the lot. The attacker was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries, CHP officials said.
