Sacramento man killed in hit-and-run crash outside his home

A man was killed by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday night outside his residence on Excelsior Road.

Antonio Zamarripa, 84, was struck about 9 p.m. The driver fled in his vehicle after striking Zamarripa, who died outside his house in the 7600 block of Excelsior Road, just south of Gerber Road.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle was northbound on Excelsior at high speed when it struck Zamarripa, who was walking on the road.
