A Grass Valley man is in Placer County Jail, accused of shooting a woman Saturday in the North Auburn area.
Craig Joseph Mcilhenny, 36, was arrested by Placer County sheriff’s detectives Sunday evening and was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm and shooting at an inhabited dwelling. He is being held without bail.
Mcilhenny reportedly knew the 26-year-old victim, who was shot in the head. She remained in critical condition Monday, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The shooting occurred at a residence on Joeger Road.
Sheriff’s officials said the circumstances that led to the shooting were still under investigation.
