The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is looking to the public to help solve a 36-year-old homicide.
The case involves the death of 20-year-old Robin Gisela Brooks, whose body was found in her apartment April 24, 1980.
Brooks had recently moved into the complex and was scheduled to work that day at the Donut Time on Kiefer Boulevard. When she failed to show up for her 4 p.m. shift, friends and co-workers went to her apartment and knocked on her door numerous times. Receiving no response, they forced entry to the apartment and found Brooks dead in her bedroom, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
During an autopsy, a pathologist determined that Brooks had been sexually assaulted, then stabbed to death. The killer apparently cut himself during the assault and his DNA profile has been uploaded to the Combined DNA Index System database. To date, no match has been made.
