Man found dead after barricading himself in Roseville home
Roseville police report that a man who barricaded himself inside a residence early Wednesday afternoon has been found dead inside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Roseville police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther, said officers went to the residence in the 200 block of King Road, south of Douglas Boulevard and Roseville’s downtown area, about 1 p.m. to talk to the man. When he spotted the officers, the man went into the home and refused to come out. Gunther said the man was in his 40s and was alone in the house.
A one-block section of King Road was closed to traffic and Gunther said homes in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution.
Police negotiators responded and tried to make contact with the man. After several attempts failed to elicit a response, officers used a robot to enter the residence. The robot searched the residence and found the man dead, police said.
The man’s name has not been released. Police said Wednesday night that they were working with the Placer County coroner to confirm the man’s identity and notify family. Detectives were continuing to investigate the scene.
