Sacramento police seek to contact people who connected with a sexual assault suspect through an online social networking forum and were subsequently victimized.
Jonathan Carroll, 33, in was arrested Dec. 23 on suspicion of sexual assault after a police investigation that linked him to five victims, according to a Police Department news release.
In July 2013, Sacramento police received reports of alleged sexual assaults that occurred in the Sacramento region. During the investigation, detectives discovered that Carroll met a number of young women, ages 17 to 19, using an online social networking forum. To date, Carroll is suspected of sexually assaulting five victims over a period of three years, according to police.
Sacramento detectives in conjunction with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office obtained a warrant for Carroll’s arrest and on Dec. 23, he was taken into custody without incident at a Sacramento County residence.
