The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office posted a picture on social media of deputies with guns drawn on a man with hands in the air in hopes that citizens might connect him with crimes.
The man, who was not identified, was taken into custody. Another man was also taken into custody.
The Facebook post said dispatchers received a call Thursday afternoon of someone trying to use a counterfeit $100 bill at a supermarket on Missouri Flat Road near Placerville. He was also seen running from a nearby business and getting into a van that was moving.
A witness supplied the license plate number and deputies spotted the van, which was stolen from the Sacramento area, and followed the driver onto Red Hawk Casino property. It was there that the men were taken into custody.

Items in the van led deputies to believe that other businesses in the Missouri Flat Road area might have been victims of a crime. Anyone who recognizes the men on the Facebook page are asked to call sheriff’s dispatch nonemergency number.
