North Highlands man held in drug deal ending in Fair Oaks homicide
Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives made an arrest in what they said was a drug deal gone bad that ended with a homicide.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at 9 p.m. Saturday reporting two vehicles in a chase in the 10500 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard in Fair Oaks. The caller heard a bang, went outside and reported seeing a man slumped over in a vehicle.
Deputies found the still-unidentified 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Detectives arrested Kane Am Thompson, 24, of North Highlands on suspicion of murder on Sunday afternoon. He was taken into custody in Vallejo.
Detectives believe the shooting occurred during a drug transaction. According to a sheriff’s press release, detectives were looking for a second man in connection with the shooting.
