Sacramento police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy who was found unresponsive at a Del Paso Heights residence May 2.
The Sacramento Fire Department was called to the 3700 block of Lily Street about 9:56 p.m. regarding an unconscious child. The youngster was found inside the home and a family member was attempting to perform life-saving measures, according to a Police Department news release. Fire personnel took over the life-saving efforts and took the boy to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition.
The Sacramento Police Department was notified and officers responded to assist with the investigation. Because of the child’s serious condition, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were summoned to collect evidence and canvass the area, police said.
The boy succumbed to his injuries May 5.

Police said they are not releasing details of the youngster’s death at this time because it is still under investigation. No arrests have been made.
