Sacramento gunfire leaves one dead, one injured

Sacramento police detectives are investigating Monday night gunfire that left one dead and another person injured in the Gardenland neighborhood.

Shooting broke out around 6:30 p.m. Monday at Northfield Drive and Northview Drive, not far from Northgate Boulevard and Arden Way.

When police arrived they found a wounded man who would survive his injury. He was transported to the hospital.

Officers continued to search the area, coming upon another man who was seriously injured, according to a police press release. He was also rushed to the hospital by Sacramento Fire Department medical personnel.

That second man was later pronounced dead.

No motive has been established and no suspects arrested in the shootings. A police press release only said that an “altercation involving multiple subjects occurred just prior” to the gunfire.
