A motorcyclist died of injuries suffered when he lost control of his vehicle early Tuesday on Greenback Lane near Interstate 80.
The single-vehicle crash occurred about 1 a.m. when the man was riding a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Greenback Lane, approaching the onramp to westbound Interstate 80. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the right lane, when the rider lost control and the motorcycle struck the west curb of the onramp, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a light pole.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
CHP officials said the rider was wearing a helmet. They said it has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
