Police: Man sought in assault on deputy in custody
Sacramento police report that a man sought following a Sheriff’s Department pursuit and assault on a deputy has been taken into custody.
Sacramento police spokesman Sgt. Bryce Heinlein said the Sheriff’s Department was conducting the pursuit and the man abandoned his vehicle on Broadway. Officers on the ground and a helicopter searched the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, 38th Street, and 15th and 16th avenues in the Oak Park area. Police reported about 9:45 p.m. that he was in custody.
No information was available regarding what led to the pursuit or the condition of the injured deputy.
