A man was arrested after leading officers on a chase on Highway 99 and city streets that included along the way an injury to a Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy.
The pursuit began about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when Sheriff’s Department gang detectives tried to stop a silver Acura with no license plates near 15th Avenue and 38th Street. The driver fled from deputies, eventually heading north on Highway 99.
During the chase of what turned out to be a stolen car, the driver threw a gun out a window, according to a sheriff’s news release. The driver exited the freeway at Broadway and pulled over.

Instead of surrendering, he drove away, traveling at a slow speed on Broadway. When a deputy tried a maneuver to disable the vehicle, the patrol car hit the roadway median and a tree.
The pursuit continued to 15th Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard in Oak Park, where the driver hit a parked car. He then ran from but was later captured.
He was identified as Somephone Siacksorn, 41, of Sacramento. Siacksorn was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading officers and a probation violation.
The deputy in the crash, a 16-year veteran, suffered minor injuries. He was kept overnight in a hospital for observation.
